Abstract

nderstanding all its environmental facets, all its political, economic and social implications? And what is the role of science and what is that of men and women who carry out research in these fields? Which is the relationship between science and society when environment, climate change, health, innovation and communication are at the center of the debate? Is it possible to propose new perspectives, work on new perspectives? Is there a gender perspective of the environmental crisis on the present and the future? We like to start by communicating the questions that, as Associazione Donne e Scienza – Women and Science Association of Italy and its “Environment and Gender†group, we asked ourselves in organizing the “Environment and Climate – The present for the future†conference in 2019, because the questions outline the reasoning and are not neutral with respect to the answers we have tried to seek inside and outside science. The challenge was to try and almost force ourselves to broaden our perspectives and create relationships between the different points of view of those who study this crisis, who would have the power to transform it and those who instead suffer its effects. At the base is the belief that the urgency of the crisis requires a holistic vision of the whole system and requires the effort of thought and action on several levels by men and women.
